The Electrifying Ford F-150 Lightning at Corning Ford

Always the innovator, Ford jumped into the design of an electric truck with both feet, and the result is the excited Ford F-150 Lightning. This electric truck is luxurious, powerful, and offers drivers a host of neat features that drivers near Corning won't find in any other electric truck on the market. The Lightning offers Chico, CA drivers the ability to upgrade to an Extended Range battery for longer road trips, the ability to plug tools or other electronics into the bed for charging purposes, and an Onboard generator that can power one's home for up to two days should drivers find that necessary. Interior & Technology

While the F-150 Lightning will look quite similar to the gas-powered F-150 on the interior, there are some noticeable differences for drivers. First, the infotainment touchscreen display is much larger than inside the gas-powered F-150 truck. Currently, drivers in Tehama County will only be able to procure the Lightning as a Crew Cab configuration. This will seat up to five adults comfortably, and the interior of the Lightning is roomy and spacious. Simply open the hood as one would in the F-150 to garner extra cargo space (up to 400 pounds of equipment, tools, or luggage can be stored in the frunk).

With the twelve-inch infotainment touchscreen, drivers can access Ford's Sync 4 software. The Lariat and Platinum trims will offer a fifteen-inch screen as an option.

Technology Features

The Ford Lightning is a technological wonder, offering drivers some impressive features that make the drive more enjoyable. These include a Bang and Olufsen premium stereo system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto access, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. In-dash navigation is also standard in the F-150 Lightning. Exterior & Safety Features

The Lightning shares much of the same exterior features as the gas-powered F-150. However, the exclusive bed of the Lightning is a 5.5-footbed. The Lightning offers an optional power-operated tailgate.

Safety Features

All Ford vehicles, including the Ford F-150 Lightning, come standard with the Ford CoPilot360 safety system. This system offers blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Plus, the system offers automated braking and forward-collision warnings. However, higher trims of the F-150 Lightning will offer an enhanced safety system that includes adaptive cruise control and increased blind spot monitoring features.

 

Trims Levels

The Ford Lightning is available in four trims:

PRO

XLT

  • Ford F-150 Lightning XLT: This model offers the ability to choose either the standard or extended range battery packs; standard features include a Wi-Fi hotspot, the basic Ford CoPilot360 safety system, and access to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

    • LARIAT

  • Ford F-150 Lightning LARIAT: Features upgrades to leather upholstery, onboard generator is standard, power tailgate and available retractable running boards

    • PLATINUM

  • Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum: This trim level gets an Extended Range battery pack is standard, Nirvana leather heated and cooled seats, and the upgraded Bang & Olufsen stereo system

    • The standard powertrain of an F-150 Lightning is two electric batteries and an all-wheel drive. Drivers near Corning may opt for either the standard powertrain or the Extended battery life package. The standard powertrain offers drivers up to 452 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque. The extended battery pack will place available horsepower at 580 horsepower, making it the choice if you intend to tow a trailer with the Lightning.

    The Lightning offers a maximum tow rating of 10,000; however, it's important to remember that this is in the Extended Range battery pack. The Standard range battery pack offers a tow rating of 7,700 pounds. The maximum payload varies; the base Lightning possesses a maximum payload of 1,800 pounds, while the Extended version offers a maximum payload of 2,000 pounds.
