Ford F-Series Super Duty, the automaker's heavy-duty truck lineup that includes models like the F-250 and F-350, is getting a full generational refresh for the 2023 model year. Updates include even bolder styling and new features and tech derived from the critically acclaimed F-150. The fourth-gen reboot also includes a revised powertrain roster targeting class-leading performance across the board. As is typical of the automaker leading up to a highly anticipated release, Ford has yet to divulge certain specifics like power numbers and trim details. But there's enough information to get excited about. And if there's anything Ford is excellent at; it's building top-tier trucks. Here's a quick look at a few select highlights of the upcoming 2023 Ford Super Duty.
Targeted class-leading performance
The 2023 Super Duty powertrain lineup looks similar to its predecessor at first glance, but there are a few significant updates:
- The 6.2-liter V-8 has been replaced by a new 6.8-liter mill Ford says will deliver more low-end torque.
- The 7.3-liter V-8 gets re-fitted with improved air intake and a new tune aimed at segment-topping gas horsepower and torque ratings.
- The 6.7-liter Power Stroke Turbo-Diesel will offer a new high-output variant for targeted class-leading tow ratings.
New Features
The 2023 Ford Super Duty lineup pulls in some features from its F-150 sibling (redesigned in 2021), notably Ford's latest SYNC 4 in-car OS with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. XL models have an 8-inch touchscreen, while all other tiers get a 12-inch display.
Max Recline Seats appear in the Super Duty lineup for the first time. The seats unfold almost completely flat and provide lower back support when fully reclined, allowing for max relaxation during downtime.
New and innovative towing technologies provide more confidence and convenience when transporting a trailer, including:
- 360-Degree Trailer Camera System
- Blind Spot Information System with Trailer Coverage, including new Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck compatibility
- Trailer Navigation (updates routing to avoid roads incompatible with trailer dimensions)
- Tailgate-Down Camera and Reverse Sensing System
- Onboard Scales with Smart Hitch – Provides real-time weight estimate and guidance for trailer tongue weight distribution
