The 2018 Ford F-150 - America's Favorite Pickup Turns 40

It's been four decades since Ford introduced America to the F-150 pickup truck, and it's been a bestseller ever since. To celebrate the truck's ruby anniversary in 2018, the carmaker has given it a number of fantastic updates and revisions that we here at Corning Ford are very excited about.

While a number of changes are on the way for the Ford F-150, some things will remain the same. Drivers shopping for a light-duty truck will still have their choice of trim levels, bed lengths, cab styles, and engines. You will still be able to customize your truck to work for you, but it will have some new, modern-day technology and power.

What's New on the 2018 Ford F-150?

Previously, the standard engine in the Ford F-150 was a 3.5-liter V6. Now, it will be a slightly more powerful and fuel efficient, 3.3-liter V6, and it will come paired to a ten-speed automatic transmission.

Plus, the truck's other available engines will also receive more power. Both the 2.7-liter V6 and the 5.0-liter V8 have been revised and given a little more oomph.

But, the biggest headline for the 2018 outing of the F-150, is the addition of a diesel-powered Power Stroke engine. The turbocharged diesel V6 will give Corning drivers even more options when shopping for an F-150.

Every Ford F-150 engine will now be equipped with an automatic start-stop system as well. This new technology will earn the truck better fuel economy and reduce its emissions by shutting down and restarting the engine automatically while idling.
